I had to pick a couple of my best in shows to avoid a spore drop while I'm at work but I'd still love to clone a couple of those bad boys! They're currently wrapped in a paper towel in my fridge but I'm wondering if I'll still be able to get a healthy sample or if I should just pick different ones to clone. Total time will be about 8 hours between harvest and getting back to them

So the inevitable has happened. Omicron is now spreading in our community, and cases will get much higher than they ever have in New Zealand before. The chance that you will get Covid-19 from an everyday activity will drastically increase.
“Red light” settings will help slow the spread a little, but because two doses of a vaccine are only mildly effective at stopping transmission (although they do help a lot with severe cases), expect to get Covid fairly soon if you treat the rules as the maximum you should be doing.
If you’d like to delay or even avoid catching Omicron, but you don’t want to live like a complete hermit for the next few months, what should you do?
MicroCovid is an online calculator that estimates the probability you will contract Covid-19 at a given activity. It takes inputs including your location, vaccination status, the size and scope of an activity, the mitigation methods in use, and the riskiness of other people there to output how many “microCOVIDs” you will contract by attending.
A “microCOVID” is a one-in-a-million chance of contracting Covid. Some examples, using data from right now (expect these figures to rise rapidly) and assuming two doses of Pfizer:
The main takeaway is that Covid-19 risk spans many orders of magnitude. Dense, indoor, unmasked social events are just much, much riskier than almost anything else, and everything is much riskier at the peak of the outbreak than well before or afterwards. And there are some activities (e.g. walking alone outdoors) that are just almost never going to be worth worrying about for almost everyone.
If you want to be Covid cautious but still have a life, focus on the most important ways to reduce risk. MicroCovid’s simple heuristic is to MODIfy (masked, outdoors and distance) activities, but you can be more fine-grained than that. For instance, have a family get-together with some vulnerable people that you’d nonetheless rather not cancel? Ask everyone to reduce their contacts in the week before if they can, and the total risk will be lower.
It’s true that the majority of us will probably contract Covid-19 over the next few months, including quite a few people who tried to be cautious about it. This might make it seem that mitigation efforts are in vain.
But even a delayed infection does have value. It gives more time for you and/or others to get boosted. It allows us to “flatten the curve” of hospitalisations. It gives us time to get more useful products into the country (like rapid tests and anti-virals).
And note that a majority =! 100%. If you have the ability to have a well-below average amount of Covid exposure, you can probably avoid getting infected in this wave, and then maybe for a long time afterwards - by which point the health system will be better prepared to care for you. Is this worth doing? Possibly not if you’re personally low risk, but it may well be worth considering if you or a household contact is at high risk from Covid. (Unfortunately, this option may not be available for a lot of people due to their work or living situation).
Nonetheless, the situation is considerably different to how it used to be. With a highly vaccinated country and a milder variant that can only be mitigated, there’s not nearly the same value in trying to avoid an infection. So if you decide you're just going to live life as normally as you can within the rules, don't feel bad about it. You're (probabilistically) not killing Grandma by doing so. You might do more good just being more cautious with mountain biking when hospitalisations peak.

TH3 SH4DY GR3Y levels and its confirmed sublevels are completely greyscale, but does that include you, and the entities in it? Seeing the entities themselves as just extensions of the sublevels, it would make sense that they're in black and white but what about you as a person? You aren't truly apart of the level, just a visitor, you can noclip in and out as you please (in theory). If you do become completely desaturated, how permanent would it be? Would you gain colour back once you escape the sublevels or just be stuck? If you don't become desaturated, I imagine you would become a very colourful target for entities, assuming they experience colour in the same way you do. While you're in the level you would have to play by its rules, so maybe it isn't that the level is greyscale but you lose your ability to see colour, and TH3 SH4DY GR3Y sublevels are in reality very colourful? Would you be able to see colour once you escape? Would you even be able to comprehend colour anymore if you've been there for long enough? Perhaps the entities can see the colours you cannot, like shrimp. I understand that these questions are kind of dumb, considering how much else there is about the backrooms to be curious about, but I am kind of a dumb persom so this is like all I can think about. Imagine just looking down and your hands and clothes aren't in colour anymore, even after you leave. I need to know what you guys think.

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this but I have an aversion to almost everything regarding sex. I don't like porn or anything intended to be "sexy" I don't like when people talk about sex, or do anything sexual in front of me, make sexual jokes etc. I don't have anything against other people doing it by themselves but it makes me cringe for some reason.

I have a psychology appointment later today and although I know that telling them that I have disordered thoughts about food and body will be better, I’m scared.
I feel invalid because I’m at a healthy weight for my body (even while my brain screams that I’m fat) and I have a very engaging family which means I can’t skip meals.
In retrospect this should be seen as good, as my environment is already trying to get me to recover, but I don’t want to tell anyone. My brains thinks that I need to become underweight and stop eating, and other classic signs of restrictive eating disorders before I can be valid.
Even now, I’m scared that because I don’t have an eating disorder I’m not welcome here. I don’t know how my psychologist will respond or if they’ll even take me seriously.

2022.01.23 20:46 Working_With_Code Water pump died (pully super loose, weep hole leaking) and serpentine belt fell off, is it normal my car won't start now?
Like is a car supposed to be able to start without the belt? I tried putting the belt back on and I didn't see anything spinning, does that mean a seized crankshaft? I know I shouldn't drive without the belt but should it be possible to turn on your car without one?
